Serve Our World

Global & National Outreach
___

By God's grace, we desire to be a Christ-centered church for all people where the power of the gospel is continually transforming lives, renewing our city and changing the world.

At Door Creek Church, we partner with other Christ-centered organizations around our country and around the world. Our partnerships strive to be built on deep respect, mutual need and a shared vision for reaching our respective communities for Christ.

Mission Trips

Our current goal is to grow as a church in our missional participation, partnerships and prayerfulness. One way we can do this is through short-term mission trips. Short-term mission trips offer spiritual growth and a chance to engage in servant-minded ministry, fostering intentional relationships through outreach projects, ministry activities, mobile medical clinics and much more!

Short-Term Mission Trip Partner: Mission of Hope

Our current short-term mission trip partner is Mission of Hope (MOH), with whom we are collaborating on seven-day mission trips to the Dominican Republic. In the DR, there is a significant Haitian population, and Mission of Hope is dedicated to serving both them and other underserved communities across the country.

Mission of Hope has over 20 years of experience coordinating international mission trips for churches, families and individuals. They believe that sustainable transformation is possible by partnering with the local churches and indigenous leaders so that ongoing ministry continues long after you go home.

Mission of Hope offers general trips, medical trips, family trips and even specialized trips like Hope for Her (women only) and College Week (young adults only).

About Tim

In response to God’s love, grace and truth, the purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is to establish and advance and colleges and universities witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord—growing in love for God, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture, God’s Word and God’s purposes in the world.

Studies show that college-age students are interested in spirituality and have lots of questions, but sadly, fewer are attending church. There is a tremendous opportunity on campus in reaching future leaders with the gospel. We are committed to serving the church by helping each person appreciate their purpose and encouraging their activity in a congregation as lifelong worshippers and participating members. We do this by meeting students and faculty right where they are at on campus through evangelism, discipleship, multi-ethnicity and missions. God has used InterVarsity to bless over a million alumni since 1941.

If you’d like to learn more about our beliefs and ministry, or even get involved yourself by praying or volunteering, you can find out more on InterVarsity's website.

Kory Eller | Spain

Kory Eller

Kory serves in Southern Spain, working with teams in both Malaga and in Almeria. Together with his team, they desire to see God known to the least reached as they come alongside and empower cross-cultural workers throughout Europe, North Africa and Middle East regions. They also desire to be the light and hope of Jesus to the least reached living among us.

Some of the ways we carry out our mission is through life coaching and training, men and women’s retreats, mentoring and counseling and field visits to name a few. We also work with two community centers that focus on the local immigrant populations that have come near to us.

John & Wendy Gerhardt | New Orleans, Louisiana

John & Wendy Gerhardt

John and Wendy Gerhardt have been serving with Urban Impact Ministries (UIM) in Central City New Orleans since 1991. John grew up in Platteville, WI and Wendy grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Over the years, some of their duties have included: pioneering UIM’s youth ministry, heading up short-term missions, planting and pastoring Castle Rock Community Church, replanting the church and ministry after Hurricane Katrina and overall leadership and vision for the ministry. The vision of UIM is to create a neighborhood where kids can ride their bikes to, with schools of excellence, a safe place to gather, a church that cares and a transformed household.

John currently serves as the Executive Director of Urban Impact Ministries, having also served as the Pastor of Castle Rock Community Church from 1998 until January 2017. Wendy has served in various capacities such as Children’s Church Director, Summer Camp Medical Advisor, and Education Ministries Director. She currently is a midwife at a clinic and volunteers at the ministry. They have 4 children, Josiah (current Education Director at UIM), Anastasia (a missionary with Reach Global), Elijah (a senior in college studying Elementary Education) and Jeremiah (a sophomore in college).

John & Jennifer Keller | Mongolia, East Asia

John & Jennifer Keller

Every Navigator’s passion is to help others to know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same. Through small-group Bible studies and Life-to-Life discipleship, we come alongside people and teach them to be Christ’s followers as they study and apply the Word of God to chart their lives. Then we train them to pass what they have learned on to others.

John and Jennifer Keller are now based in the USA but are traveling in and out of Mongolia and Trinidad with the Navigators. They are helping to build a new Navigators team for campus ministry in the Caribbean, etc.

Ron & Dawn Kregness | Madison, WI

Ron & Dawn Kregness

The Kregness' ministry is one of service. Ron's position as Executive Director of Lake Waubesa Bible Camp gives him the opportunity to lead out in serving every day. The Bible Camp's vision statement is ”creating opportunities for life change through the love of Jesus Christ” and everything Ron does, from maintenance to administration, is focused on that goal. As for specific tasks, Ron is the camp administrator, acting as LWBC’s liaison to the Board of Directors. He works with the year-round staff team to plan and prepare, does most of the maintenance around the facility, cooks and serves meals to guest groups and whatever else is necessary!

Dawn’s title is Director of Operations. She coordinates a lot of the planning and processes around both the summer ministry and year-round retreats and other events. Dawn also oversees the food service area.

The Kregness family has been serving at LWBC since 1988 and they often hear about how God has used the camp to change the lives of individuals and families. LWBC typically sees over 100 Door Creek Church kids attend summer programs and often have the privilege of serving alongside young adults as part of our high school staff or summer staff teams. LWBC serves well over 600 campers every summer and nearly 5,000 people annually through summer overnight camps, day camps, leadership training, special events, retreats and conferences of all kinds. In 2020, LWBC celebrated its 75th year of service in spreading the Gospel in Dane County.

Both Dawn and Ron have also been active in the ministry of (formerly) Buckeye Evangelical Free Church, and now Door Creek Church.

ABout Brian

My passion at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is to know Christ, make Him known and help others do the same. Through evangelism, small group Bible study and Life-to-Life discipleship, I come alongside students and teach them to follow Christ as we study and apply the Word of God to our lives. Then, I help them pass on what they have learned to others.

I have been serving with the Navigators for seven years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as associate campus director in charge of evangelism. Before that, I served at Shizuoka National University in Japan (thirteen years), University of Texas-Austin (six years) and Illinois State University (three years). I have been praying Isaiah 43:4 for my life and ministry, that God would give me "men in exchange for me and people in exchange for my life."

Rob & Nancy Weise

Rob Weise works as the Director of Connections and Events with the EFCA - Forest Lakes District. He is working with 170+ churches and over 700+ ministry leaders. The goal is to connect our ministry leaders in churches with other ministry leaders with the same role for resources and best practices and encourage them in their ministries! Rob and Nancy have a new role helping helping the DISTRICTS leadership team as advisors, answering questions and assisting with details as needed. Rob still serves as an Events Planner for the EFCA District conferences and retreats. His new role has added a new focus in the area of Apprentices, Internships and Residents. Churches are having a hard time finding ministry leaders and the District is looking to support churches by helping them start these internships and residences.

Jen & Chad Wojtysiak | Sun Prairie, WI

Jen & Chad Wojtysiak
ABOUT JEN

Jen has been with InterVarsity since 2003 and has served as campus staff, area director, associate regional director, national student ministry director and now as associate national director for Nurses Christian Fellowship, a focused ministry of InterVarsity. Her vision is to see every campus with a nursing program have a Nurses Christian Fellowship where students have an opportunity to meet Jesus at the intersection of their faith and vocation. The average nurse interacts with more than 500 patients a year! What if these nurses saw every patient interaction as an opportunity to share the love of Jesus? What if these nurses were trained and equipped to provide meaningful spiritual care for their patients? Imagine the kind of impact this could have on the world! NCF exists to encourage, equip and empower nursing students for a lifetime of service in healthcare. Jen is grateful for the opportunity to lead our network of NCF students and nurses to bring the love and hope of Christ into their nursing schools and professions.

ABOUT CHAD

Chad has been with InterVarsity since 2018 and serves key initiatives such as EveryCampus and Catalyze No Known Ministries (Catalyze NKM). His primary goal is to bring ministries to campuses without known ministries, uniting campus ministry leaders, pastors, church members, students and faculty who are passionate about reaching these communities. Chad also serves on the Steering Committee of EveryCampus, helping to guide the vision and strategy behind the EveryCampus movement. EveryCampus started in 2017 with Cru and InterVarsity coming together to ask: “What could we do TOGETHER that we could never do on our own?” By God’s Spirit, a shared vision formed to seek God for revival by catalyzing gospel movements on college campuses with no known ministry presence. Today, 100+ organizations participate in the EveryCampus coalition.

When you sponsor a child, you’ll be personally connected with a boy or girl who will know your name and treasure the thought that you care. Sponsoring a child with Compassion is a cost-effective way to end extreme child poverty. It not only addresses a child’s immediate physical needs but also builds self-esteem and self-respect.

Haiti

Door Creek Church is one of three Wisconsin churches to partner with Mission of Hope Haiti (MOHH), the largest non-governmental organization (NGO) serving in Haiti. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, so the needs are among the greatest. We seek to assist MOHH Village Champions living in the Zoranje area who work alongside community church leaders to identify the needs of the community.
