Student Ministry Summer Programming

Student Ministry Families,

We have decided to offer a hybrid model of programming this summer for our Student Ministry that will allow our students to connect with us both virtually and in person. Because we respect each family's concerns and comfort level in regards to COVID, we are hoping that the variety of programming that we will be offering our students this summer will allow us to be a fun and safe place for ALL of them!
Because it is 2020, please note that this schedule is subject to change if our state guidelines should change. Hopefully come July, we can provide more in-person Student Ministry options for our students. Below are the descriptions of all of our summer options. Make sure that you pay special attention to our Social Distancing Guidelines but also to the section about Weekly Winners and the incentives for our students to be engaged in our programming.

How to Use Zoom

We will still be utilizing a free video conferencing platform called ZOOM for some activities. Students can join in on any of our Virtual Programming by downloading a FREE PLUGIN for their Internet browser or by downloading the free app for their phone. Users do not have to create a free account but they can by clicking HERE.

In order to ensure that our ZOOM video chat rooms are a safe place for all students but also to ensure that they are space where students can connect with each other and grow in their relationship with Jesus we are expecting every student to abide by our Virtual Programming Guidelines. Failure to follow them could result in a student not being able to join us in our Virtual Programming on Zoom.

In order for a student to join any of our virtual options below, they can click on the appropriate boxes. Please note that these links will not work until their scheduled time.

Because its 2020, all of these events are subject to change due to uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

Here's our new Summer Student Ministry plan:

Select Mondays | June 15, 29; July 13; August 3 | 6-8 pm

Join us on select Monday evenings (June 15, 29; July 13; August 3) from 6:00-8:00 pm at Sprecher as we enjoy a free meal (Chick-Fil-A sandwich, chips, drink) and time of fellowship together outside near the Circle Drive. Socially distant of course! In order to join, students are encouraged to bring a chair/blanket to sit on and are required to sign up online by noon the day before in order to receive a free meal. (Parents, feel free to order one for yourself and your entire family.) If it's raining, students and families can come and pick up their free meals from church and bring them home to eat. Don't miss out on Chick-Fil-A chicken and community in the Circle Drive!

Select Wednesdays | June 17; July 1, 15, 29; August 12 | 7-8:30 pm

We know that being a teenager is difficult and that a lot of times our students just need a place to chat. That is why we are offering virtual Support Group on select Wednesday nights (June 17; July 1, 15, 29; August 12) from 7:00-8:30 pm on ZOOM. Join us for an intentional time of giving and receiving support from our adult leaders and their peers as we talk about life and different topics. No registration is needed. To join us virtually on ZOOM, by clicking this button.

High School Support Group

Select Sundays | June 21; July 5, 19; August 2 | 6:30-8 pm

We believe that one of the best ways for our students to grow in their relationship with Christ is by spending intentional time with others in community through LifeGroup. Join us on select Sunday nights (June 21; July 5, 19; August 2) from 6:30-8:00 pm on ZOOM as we dig deeper into God's Word and discuss what it means for our day-to-day lives. No registration is needed. Join us virtually on ZOOM.

Select Wednesdays | June 24, July 8, 22, and August 5, 19 | 7-9 pm

Some of the best moments with our students happen around a bonfire. Join us on select Wednesday nights (June 24, July 8, 22, and August 5, 19) from 7:00-9:00 pm as we hang out and talk around the fire at church. Because we want to follow proper social distancing guidelines, we are requiring all students who want to attend to sign up online by noon the day before these events in order to make sure that we have enough fire pits for everyone. Failure to sign up will prohibit a student from being able to attend our Bonfire Nights.

Bonfire Registration

This summer we are committed to providing our students with weekly original content (i.e. Wings, SMN Live, and Thoughtful Thursday segments) that they can watch online. To learn more about and watch our online content, encourage your students to check out our YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram pages.

Because we value the physical safety of our students, we have created a series of social distancing guidelines. We are encouraging all students to bring their own hand sanitizer to use and to bring/wear a mask if they choose to. While these things just mentioned are optional - here is what we are the rules and guidelines that we are expecting our students to follow: (1) remain six feet apart from others as much as possible (2) do not join other students in other areas that have not been assigned to them and (3) be patient and take turns as we are only allowing a few students at a time to go inside the church to use the bathroom.

*Failure to follow these guidelines could result in a student being asked to leave and not allowed to return to our physical programming.

In order to encourage and reward the engagement of our students, each week the Middle School and High School student who earns the most "points" by engaging in our summer programming for that week will win a gift card. The point system is as follows: Community Nights (25 pts); Support Group (100 pts.); Summer LifeGroup (100 pts.); Bonfire Nights (25 pts); Viewing + Commenting on Online Content (50 pts.); Connecting with a SM Staff Member or Volunteer 1:1 outside of programming (150 pts. per week). And to sweeten the deal, the Middle School and High School student who earn the most amount of total points this summer will each win a free trip to (E)Merge our upcoming fall retreat on October 16-18.

Because its 2020, all of these events are subject to change due to uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.
